I'm glad to read this, Robin. I wasn't sure if this post was too long so I actually stopped myself from writing a few more lessons. I never know where the sweet spot is for that sort of thing. I get conflicting feedback from readers – some want everything to be shorter and some want everything to be longer. I can't win!
Kyle, thanks for inspiring us by sharing the lessons you've learned on your journey. Even though I come from a completely different background in technology product development, I can identify with your hunger for learning and doing more. Your unwavering positive attitude is what truly resonates with me.
Kyle, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your piece— it was truly fantastic! Thank you immensely for sharing it. I must say, it wasn’t too lengthy at all! In fact, I found myself wishing for even more content, perhaps delving into financial specifics of certain jobs or the intricacies of the Adobe acquisition. Of course, I understand there might be NDAs and confidentialities to consider, but gaining insight into pricing various types of work would be a knockout read. Thanks again for this article, it was the perfect read!
Thank you, Ginny. If you go back roughly a year in my writing, you will find more details about the Adobe acquisition as well as some writing about other business topics. I believe I have mentioned pricing now and then, but perhaps I could expand on that in a future issue! Thank you for the suggestion.
Thank you Kyle, for yet another brilliant share of your experiences. I absolutely look forward to your emails for your realness and authentic content. Thank you for reminding that there's so much consistency, trial and error, rejections and bouncing back behind all the shiny outcomes! Thank you for sharing your light in so many ways!
All of it resonates, but particularly #5. This still feels like the career opportunity multiplier so many young creatives miss (including me back when). Also, please share more. If there were a part two, I'd bookmark it twice.
All good stuff Kyle. I saw most of this journey you took in person and it's pretty amazing! When the content is good like this, the length is fine. Thanks for sharing. -Scott
Thank you, Scott- so hard to please everyone when it comes to reading time, but I guess I shouldn’t worry about that so much anymore. The main thing is to get my thoughts down!
Excellent, as ever!
Thank you, Gary. This one took a while to write! 🙂
In my experience, the more personal ones usually do.
Just the thing I needed to read today, and passed on to a few others I know could use to read this too. Thank you for this post Kyle. It hit home.

Certainly here for the valuable long reads!:)
Please keep going! Very useful and motivating 👏
Informative and just the right length. Love to read more like this.
Great essay. What a ride it’s been, Kyle. Enjoyed learning about your poster work at UNCG. Stay positive and keep ‘em coming.
Very relevant. Can relate to many of the same experiences over the course of my career. Is it safe to assume you prefer Adobe Fresco over Procreate?

I loved this honest and helpful advice, Kyle. Please share more stories and tips!
Thanks, Kyle! I use your brushes daily and loved all this great advice.

I appreciate the very kind words, Abhinaya.
This might be the single greatest substack I've read. Thanks Kyle!
Wow, thanks, AJ!

Incredible post, thanks for sharing such good and encouraging advice Kyle.
This is awesome, and I really need that social media bit! BTW I’m LOVING your fresco brushes and I’m going to check out the Domestika course, YAYYY!
Hi, Michelle - thanks for reading and I’m glad it was helpful. And thanks for checking out the Domestika course. I hope you love it!
