More jet-lag here after just returning from San Jose, California where I worked at the Adobe offices and met some of the lovely people from Adobe Education (Adobe EDU). I’ll write up a shiny FULL issue of The Accidental Expert for you a bit later in the week on the topic of why I believe academic drawing should be taught in K-12 (do you agree? Let me know in the comments). In the meantime, here is a time-lapse video of a winter-inspired drawing I did while traveling.

I hope you are all happy and healthy! Thanks for the continued support. I know your inboxes are full and I do not take it for granted that you choose to allow me to occupy a bit of space in there each week.

P.S. - For the brush fans out there, the illustration above was created entirely with brushes from my new Winter 2023 Photoshop brush set (also, it was drawn in Adobe Fresco). You should see these brushes rolling out live over the next couple of weeks, worldwide.
I think Drawing taught as a visual language with the same importance as reading, writing, Music and Math should be the goal of K-12 education. Academic drawing like advanced calculus should be a choice. The world would be a better place if people could find expression and solace in markmaking.
I love the drawing above. I believe academic drawing should be taught in grades K-12
